Let’s be clear, every studio varies in its Payment terms, the main thing is that it is fair for both parties.
Some firms have payment upfront, a deposit, stages depending on the length and size of the project, or payment at the end of the project.
We personally do 50% deposit with the final payment 7 days after we handover the products. With our long term clients and smaller projects, we drop the deposit requirement.
I would never recommend paying 100% upfront unless the project is already completed and you can purchase it as is. This is less risky for you.
Staging is also very common and a fair system for both parties.
